충북 음성 친환경 농업교육관
(Eumseong Eco-Friendly Agricultural Education Center)

충북 음성에 세워진 이 건축은, 사람과 자연이 함께 배우고 성장하는 열린 구조를 지향합니다.
지역의 농업인들이 박람회·세미나·강연을 위해 모일 수 있는 새로운 중심 공간으로 설계되었습니다.
흩어져 있던 교육과 전시, 교류의 기능을 하나로 묶어,
기능의 결핍을 넘어 관계의 회복으로 나아가는 것, 그것이 이 건축의 출발점이었습니다.

복도는 단순한 이동의 통로가 아니라,
사람들이 오가며 머물고, 이야기가 흐르는 오픈형 라운지와 커뮤니티 홀로 확장되었습니다.
이 공유공간은 300석 규모의 극장식 교육장, 중·소회의실, 전시홀과 유기적으로 연결되어,
규모와 목적에 따라 형태를 바꾸는 유연한 플랫폼으로 작동합니다.

교육장은 각 층에서 접근이 가능한 극장형 구조로 계획되었으며,
참여 인원과 프로그램의 성격에 따라 공간이 분리되거나 하나로 이어집니다.
상부의 고측창과 천창을 통해 들어오는 자연광은
시간과 계절에 따라 실내의 온도와 색을 바꾸며,
하루의 빛이 공간을 다르게 울리도록 설계되었습니다.

외피는 수직 루버와 수평 차양, 천창 구조의 조합으로 이루어져 있습니다.
논과 밭의 패턴을 현대적으로 해석한 입면은
빛의 각도에 따라 그림자가 변주되며 내부의 깊이를 드러냅니다.
정면 루버는 태양의 고도에 따라 투과율을 조절하는 패시브 시스템으로 작동하고,
낮에는 그림자가 공간의 결을 만들고,
밤에는 내부의 빛이 외부로 번져 마을의 광장을 부드럽게 밝힙니다.

내·외부는 모두 아이보리 톤의 세라믹 스톤으로 마감되었습니다.
흙과 세라믹을 함께 구워 만든 이 재료는 빛을 흡수하며 따뜻한 분위기를 형성하는 물질적 성질을 지니고 있습니다.
벽돌과 달리 수분을 흡수하지 않아, 여름철 습기와 비가 잦은 한국의 기후에 적합합니다.
낮에는 부드러운 빛을 머금고, 밤에는 잔잔한 잔광을 남기며
자연과 공간 사이의 온도 차를 조율하는 표면으로 작동합니다.
표면은 시간과 계절에 따라 서로 다른 빛의 표정을 보여주며,
건축 전체가 하나의 생명체처럼 빛과 기후에 반응하는 유기적 존재로 느껴집니다.

자연 채광과 통풍만으로도 쾌적한 환경을 유지하며,
건축은 스스로 에너지의 균형을 만들어갑니다.

음성 친환경 농업교육관은 단순한 시설이 아니라,
지속가능한 농업의 미래와 지역 공동체의 만남을 이어주는 열린 무대입니다.

이곳에서 건축은 기능을 넘어,
빛·공기·사람의 움직임이 공존하는 하나의 리듬이 됩니다.
그 리듬 속에서 사람은 배움을 경험하고,
자연은 건축 안에 머물며,
함께 성장의 시간을 이어갑니다.

Eumseong Eco-Friendly Agricultural Education Center

Built in Eumseong, Chungcheongbuk-do,
this architecture seeks an open structure where people and nature can learn and grow together.
Designed as a new civic ground for local farmers to gather for fairs, seminars, and lectures,
it unites dispersed programs of education, exhibition, and exchange into a single, shared platform.
Its starting point was not merely to fill a functional gap,
but to restore a sense of connection and openness within the community.

Circulation spaces are not treated as corridors of movement but as open lounges and community halls
where people pause, meet, and converse.
These shared areas are organically connected to the 300-seat terraced auditorium,
the meeting rooms, and exhibition hall,
forming a flexible platform that adapts to scale and purpose.

The auditorium is accessible from multiple levels and can be separated or unified according to the size of each program.
Natural light from the clerestories and skylights changes throughout the day,
shaping the temperature and atmosphere of the interior as time passes.

The façade combines vertical louvers, horizontal shading, and skylight structures.
Its pattern—abstracted from the geometry of fields and furrows—
creates shifting layers of light and shadow that reveal the depth of the interior.
The front louvers act as a passive system that adjusts solar permeability with the sun’s angle:
during the day, shadows compose a quiet rhythm across the walls;
at night, interior light seeps outward, softly illuminating the town’s square.

Both exterior and interior surfaces are finished with ivory-toned ceramic stone.
Made by firing clay with ceramic, the material absorbs light to create a warm, gentle atmosphere.
Unlike brick, it resists moisture and suits Korea’s humid, rain-rich climate.
By day, it holds the light softly; by night, it retains a subtle afterglow—
mediating the temperature and mood between nature and space.
Its surface shifts with time and season,
so that the architecture itself feels alive, responding to light and climate as an organic presence.

Through natural lighting and ventilation,
the building maintains a comfortable environment,
achieving its own balance of energy without mechanical dependence.

More than a facility,
the Eumseong Eco-Friendly Agricultural Education Center becomes an open stage connecting sustainable agriculture with the life of its community.
Here, architecture moves beyond function—
becoming a rhythm where light, air, and human movement coexist.
Within that rhythm, people experience learning,
nature dwells within the architecture,
and together, they continue to grow.
